First steps
If this is your first time studying at college or university-level, or you’ve been away from study for some time, we have a range of exciting courses to choose from, many of which are directly linked to industry and business, giving you the best chance of a great career.
Start where it suits you
You can go straight into a degree, or you can start with a Higher National Certificate (HNC) then progress on to a degree course, and even all the way to postgraduate study if you want.
There are plenty of people available to help you decide which course to study and where, and you'll receive lots of support throughout your studies at UHI North Highland.
Search our courses and find the right one for you.
Studying for your first degree

We are delighted to be part of the new University of the Highlands and Islands and this status opens up many more doors for you as potential students. Study here for your degree and you can take advantage of all the merits of being part of Scotland’s newest university.
We offer a number of degrees through UHI and you’ll have access to the very latest teaching technologies including video conferencing and, in some cases, online study through our virtual learning environment.
Depending on your chosen course, you may link up with other students across the Highlands and Islands, which brings a very different and interesting perspective to classroom study.
This is a great way to take the next step in your educational journey – we look forward to walking with you.
Full-time study
Our course portfolio has been designed to enable you to realise your learning potential.
We offer courses at a variety of levels so that we can match your skills and qualifications with the right qualification.
We also have a clear progression route in place so that you can progress through your studies to higher and higher levels if you wish.
You can begin by studying for a National Certificate (NC) or Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) and progress on to Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Diploma (HND).
If you already have the required entrance qualifications, you can leapfrog up to start at HNC/HND level.
It really is entirely up to you and there are plenty of opportunities to stay with us or come back for future study!
Part-time study
We know that most of you have busy lives and, particularly if you’re looking at continued professional development (which you need to fit in around work) or you have a young family, it might seem that adding study into the equation just doesn’t add up.
Not so – most of our courses are available to study on a part-time basis; please browse through the ‘courses’ section and study the course detail to see what’s available.
