Engineering, Technology and Energy

Our engineering, technology and energy faculty is committed to providing students with 'as real as it gets training' in an up-to-date, practical setting with excellent industrial facilities.

Our Engineering, Technology and Energy Centre (ETEC) is the largest and best equipped of its type in the North of Scotland. Based at our Thurso Campus, this is where we deliver engineering programmes from introductory to honours degree level and modern apprenticeships in partnership with employers.

We work closely with local businesses to ensure we are training you to industry standard, so you can gain the skills and attributes that are really valued by employers. As a result, many companies offer our students work placements, apprenticeships and traineeships which can lead to employment. In fact, some companies do not advertise and instead recruit their employees directly from college engineering programmes.

We encourage our students to build on the skills they have gained with us by competing for prestigious engineering awards. In the past, our students have been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the IMechE Engineering Craft Competition and SECTT awards. We're extremely proud to say our students have won awards not only for the North of Scotland but also at national level.
