Bus Services
From 4th January, there have been changes to provision of service by Stagecoach which may impact on some students. The College was only advised of this the day before we broke up for Christmas. Changes have been made across Highland, full details of any alterations and withdrawn services are available at ServiceUpdatesArticle | Stagecoach (stagecoachbus.com).
The new timetables for Stagecoach and Aaron’s Coaches will be displayed at reception in Thurso and relevant timetables will be displayed in Dornoch and Alness once these have been finalised to us by the coach providers.
We are still working to understand the impact this is having on the routes student use. To help us do this you will be asked to give us a few details about your journey to and from college. Someone will visit your class to gather this information.
What we do know at the moment is that the 4.30pm No 82 Thurso – Wick bus has been withdrawn. Students will be able to use various Dounreay busses (see timetables for services 276, 280, 281, 282). The 5.20pm No 82 bus will stop at the stop outside college. Students need to be in the bus stop BY this time. If students need somewhere safe and warm to wait the reception breakout area of the campus will be open until 5.15pm for this purpose. Other parts of the building will be locked up at the normal time so students must only use the reception breakout area if they are waiting.
Due to the School strike on Wed 11th January, the Aaron’s bus coming into Thurso from John O’ Groats through Castletown which would normally stop at the High School will only drop off in town. Please speak with your PAT or student support if this causes you any concerns.
We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available. In the meantime, please discuss any concerns you have with you PAT in the first instance.
