Building Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) skills are vital to the future of the Highlands and Islands. The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) are committed to the promotion of STEM subjects and careers, developing a STEM workforce aligned with business needs and economic growth in the local area as well as continuing to address equity of opportunity, with rural and gender as particular areas of focus.

We are seeking to recruit a UHI STEM Co-ordinator (Outreach) at UHI. This is one of ten positions across the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) region and part of a 3-year UHI STEM Development Outreach Programme. The postholder(s) will conduct this role across the College’s entire area of interest i.e., Caithness, Sutherland, and Easter-Ross. Flexible working arrangements are available, with the potential for annualised hours if part time.

The postholder(s) will contribute to local STEM partnership meetings, ensuring local (if possible, data-informed) STEM plans are developed, delivered, and reported annually.

The postholder(s) will coordinate and deliver STEM engagement activities for the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), with a focus on early year and first stage learners (EYFS) and primary schools. This role contributes to a coordinated, collaborative UHI regional STEM approach.

Our ideal candidate(s) will be educated to degree level or equivalent in STEM or a related discipline. They will have experience working in STEM engagement or science communication delivery in schools or equivalent context, and experience of organising and delivering STEM engagement and community events, meeting agreed targets and timescales.

This is a full-time post for 3 years, either as a full-time post or alternatively as 2 part-time (0.5 FTE) posts or a job share arrangement may be considered.
