The Environmental Research Institute (ERI) is part of North Highland College, a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
Located in Thurso, on the North coast of Scotland, the ERI is close to many outstanding marine energy resources. Sustainable use of these wind, wave and tidal stream resources is key to achieving ambitious Scottish and international renewable energy targets.
The ERI’s thematic priority of ‘Renewable Energy and the Environment’ aims to undertake research that underpins these ambitions. Our work is truly interdisciplinary, encompassing engineering, ecology, oceanography, marine sensing and robotics, and involving collaboration with an array of regional, national and international partners.
We are now seeking to recruit a dynamic researcher to support our ecology work within the ROBINSON project http://www.robinson-h2020.eu/ and to expand our portfolio of ornithology-related research.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent experience in relevant fields, such as:
- Marine Ecology
- Renewable Energy
- Island Ecosystems
- Impact Assessment and Cumulative Impacts.
Multi-disciplinary experience, particularly in the marine environment, fieldwork experience and knowledge of island ecosystems are an advantage. A full driving licence and a BTO ringing permit are desirable.
Informal enquires can be made to Dr Benjamin Williamson, leader of the ERI’s ‘Renewable Energy and the Environment’ team: firstname.lastname@example.org
