Energy KE Coordinator

Salary range £30,066 – £32,641
Duration1 year (subject to probationary period) with the possibility to extend
Working hours35 hours per week
LocationThurso (with the possibility of remote-working arrangements).

The Environmental Research Institute (ERI) is part of North Highland College, a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). The Energy Knowledge Exchange (KE) Sectoral Group is made up of academics and KE practitioners across the UHI network to engage with industry, increase business collaboration and maximise research impact.

We are now seeking to recruit a Coordinator to lead the activity of the Energy KE Sectoral Group and be the primary university interface into the Energy business community. Working in liaison with all UHI Academic Partners, the Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and supporting revenue-generating opportunities for the partnership, and maximising energy-related KE by enabling collaborative and contract research projects.

The post will be located at the ERI, in Thurso, on the North coast of Scotland, embedded within the multi[1]disciplinary ‘Renewable Energy and the Environment’ research group, and working in association with the Energy KE Research Assistant and Chair of the Energy KE Sectoral Group.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent experience and understanding of the energy sector, together with experience of:

  • Business development in an academic and/or commercial environment
  • Knowledge exchange and innovation processes
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Project development and funding applications

Multi-disciplinary experience, particularly in commercial research and the exploitation of academic research, is an advantage, together with experience in project and financial management, marketing and communication (including social media).
