You will be working with horses and will study modules appropriate to your interests and current equestrian skills.
Wednesday 2.00-3.30pm OR Friday 9.30-11.00am
Doll Stables, Brora
A wide range of topic areas including:
- Horse identification and handling a quiet horse safely
- Assist with grooming a quiet horse
- Tack and tacking up
- Stable routine
- Horse health
- Watering and feeding
- Tacking up for ridden competition work
- Horse care: lunging
- Horse care: trimming, turnout and clipping
Where you can go...
On completion, opportunities to progress include NC Horse Care , HNC/HND Equestrian Studies or Equine Business Management BA (Hons), full time at North Highland College UHI’s Rural Studies Centre or by flexi study. These are dependent on your experience and qualification gained.
You must demonstrate a keen interest in equestrian studies and have a satisfactory reference.
