About...
The qualification allows candidates the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge relating to one area of the land-based sector and to develop knowledge and understanding of how a rural business operates. Candidates are offered a choice of eight different routes of study which give them some, but not all, of the skills and knowledge related to the national occupational standards of the chosen land-based sector route of study whilst developing their understanding of the nature of landbased industries and the issues they face.

Where you can go...
Successful completion of this qualification can provide you with an opportunity to progress to a full-time course in your chosen specialism at North Highland College, UHI or a work-based learning programme such as a SVQ or modern apprenticeship. Note that this qualification alone does not make you completely ready for the land based workplace without further training.
Entry requirements
Whilst entry is at the discretion of the Centre, it is recommended that candidates have a broad understanding of the land-based sector and have skills and knowledge of their chosen specialism at SCQF level 4.
