Keeping ourselves, our campuses and our communities safe

Keeping ourselves, our campuses and our communities safe

Dear student

We want to thank you for your cooperation and support as we continue to work in ways that keep you and your fellow students safe during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with other Scottish universities, our university partnership has confirmed a package of ten measures we are using to supporting student wellbeing as you adjust to a different learning and wider student experience, as a result of the pandemic. The 'consistent core of care for students' includes measures for students in on-campus accommodation and commitments to ensuring health and wellbeing support is available to all students.

Our strength, in delivering through blended learning, is supported by local student services, helping students succeed at every stage of their learning journey. We know that this might not be the student experience you were expecting all those months ago when you first applied. These are strange times and we understand that the current situation is unsettling and you might be feeling anxious about your own situation, or those of loved ones.  Please don't forget that our student support teams across the university partnership are here to help and details of your local contacts can be found here.

Sometimes your situation might feel overwhelming and you might want to discuss personal problems, old or new, with one of our trained counsellors.  You can access counselling sessions through your local academic partner or through the university online counselling service.  All counselling and mental health services are now delivering therapeutic support and mental health advice online and via telephone, so you can access help wherever you are. Information on how to do so can be found here.

You also have access to Togetherall, a 24/7 mental health support service which provides you with access to an online support community, self-help resources and a place to air how you are feeling anonymously. To join, simply sign up with your university (@uhi.ac.uk) email address. There is also a health and wellbeing Facebook page which offers a wealth of support, advice and information around all matters related to wellbeing and student life.

You will be aware of media coverage concerning the behaviour of some students elsewhere. One of the strengths of our university partnership is our relationships with our local communities all over the Highlands and Islands, Moray and Perthshire and we are very grateful to the vast majority of our own students who have been complying with the Scottish Government guidance and ensuring that they keep themselves, their families and their communities safe. Please be assured that any breaches of our student code of conduct will be investigated and action taken as required to ensure that you, and all our students and staff are protected.

Please continue to look after yourself, look out for those around you, follow the government guidance and we will get through this together.

Take care of yourselves and your communities.

Best regards

Oileanaich chòir

Bu mhath leinn taing a thoirt dhut airson do cho-obrachaidh agus do thaic fhad ’s a chumas sinn oirnn ag obair ann an dòighean a chumas tu fhèin agus do cho-oileanaich sàbhailte tron ghalar sgaoilte COVID-19 seo.

Còmhla ri oilthighean Albannach eile, tha com-pàirteachas nan oilthighean againn air pasgan de dheich ceumannan a dhearbhadh a tha sinn a’ cleachdadh gus taic a thoirt do shunnd nan oileanach nuair a bhitheas tu ag atharrachadh gu ionnsachadh eadar-dhealaichte agus eòlas oileanach nas fharsainge, mar thoradh air an galar lèir-sgaoilte. Tha an 'cridhe cunbhalach de chùram do dh'oileanaich' a' toirt a-steach ceumannan airson oileanaich ann an àiteachan-fuirich air-àrainn agus geallaidhean gus dèanamh cinnteach gu bheil taic slàinte is sunnd ri fhaighinn leis a h-uile oileanach.

Tha ar neart, ann a bhith a’ lìbhrigeadh tro ionnsachadh measgaichte, a’ faighinn taic bho sheirbheisean oileanach ionadail, a’ cuideachadh oileanaich gu bhith soirbheachail aig gach ìre den turas ionnsachaidh. Tha fios againn gur dòcha nach e seo an t-eòlas oileanach ris an robh dùil agad o chionn mhìosan nuair a rinn thu tagradh an toiseach. Tha iad sin nan amannan neònach agus tha sinn a’ tuigsinn gu bheil an suidheachadh làithreach duilich agus is dòcha gu bheil thu a’ faireachdainn iomagaineach mun t-suidheachadh agad fhèin, no suidheachadh luchd-gràidh. Na dìochuimhnich gu bheil na sgiobaidhean taic oileanach againn air feadh com-pàirteachas an oilthighe an seo gus cuideachadh agus gheibhear fiosrachadh mun luchd-aithne ionadail agad an seo.

Aig amannan is dòcha gum bi do shuidheachadh a’ faireachdainn uabhasach agus is dòcha gum bi thu airson bruidhinn mu dhuilgheadasan pearsanta, sean no ùr, le aon de na comhairlichean air an trèanadh againn. Faodaidh tu faighinn gu seiseanan comhairleachaidh tron chom-pàirtiche acadaimigeach ionadail agad no tro sheirbheis comhairleachaidh air-loidhne an oilthighe. Tha a h-uile seirbheis comhairleachaidh agus slàinte inntinn a-nis a’ lìbhrigeadh taic theiripeach agus comhairle slàinte inntinn air-loidhne agus air a’ fòn, gus am faigh thu cuideachadh ge bith càite a bheil thu. Gheibhear fiosrachadh air mar a nì thu sin an seo.

Tha cothrom agad cuideachd air Togetherall, seirbheis taic slàinte inntinn 24/7 a bheir dhut cothrom air coimhearsnachd taic air-loidhne, goireasan fèin-chuideachaidh agus àite airson a bhith a’ taisbeanadh gun urra mar a tha thu a’ faireachdainn. Gus a thighinn còmhla, dìreach clàraich le seòladh puist-d an oilthighe agad (@ uhi.ac.uk). Tha duilleag Facebook slàinte is sunnd ann cuideachd a tha a’ tabhann beairteas de thaic, comhairle agus fiosrachadh mu gach cùis co-cheangailte ri sunnd agus beatha oileanach.

Bidh fios agad mu chòmhdach nam meadhanan a thaobh giùlan cuid de dh'oileanaich ann an àiteachan eile. Is e aon de neartan com-pàirteachas an oilthighe, ar dàimhean leis na coimhearsnachdan ionadail againn air feadh na Gàidhealtachd agus nan Eilean, Moireibh agus Siorrachd Pheairt, agus tha sinn air leth taingeil don mhòr-chuid de na h-oileanaich againn fhèin a tha air a bhith a’ gèilleadh do stiùireadh Riaghaltas na h-Alba agus a’ dèanamh cinnteach gu bheil iad gan cumail fhèin, an teaghlaichean agus na coimhearsnachdan aca sàbhailte. Bi cinnteach gun tèid sgrùdadh a dhèanamh air brisidhean sam bith den Chòd Giùlain Oileanaich againn agus thèid gnìomhadh mar a dh’fheumar gus dèanamh cinnteach gu bheil thu fhèin, na h-oileanaich agus an luchd-obrach againn uile air an dìon. Feuch an cùm thu a’ coimhead às do dhèidh fhèin, cùm sùil a-mach airson an fheadhainn a tha timcheall ort, lean stiùireadh an riaghaltais agus gheibh sinn tron seo còmhla.

Thoir an aire ort fhèin agus air do choimhearsnachdan.

Leis gach deagh dhùrachd
