Introduction to Creative Industries SCQF Level 5 and 6

What is special about this course?

This course has been designed as a starting point for those interested in the music industry or as CPD for those already employed in some capacity within the industry. From January to June, you will build up a portfolio of modules to allow you to progress onto a full-time course within the music or sound production industries.

Entry requirements

To study at Introduction to Creative Industries (SCQF level 5) you should have previous experience of music/sound production in a practical sense as well as 3 National 4 qualifications.

To study at Introduction to Creative Industries (SCQF level 6) or above you should have three National 5 qualifications or above.

All applicants will be invited to attend a practical audition based on their own musical interests, e.g. sound production or instrument/vocals.

You will study the following units from our full-time Music level 5 course:

  • Midi Sequencing
  • Music Literacy and Aural skills
  • Performing Music on one Instrument or Voice
  • Composing Skills
  • Appreciation of Music
  • The Creative Process
  • The Creative Project
  • Sound Engineering and Production

You will study the following units from our full-time Music level 6 course:

  • Midi Sequencing
  • Music Literacy and Aural skills
  • Performing Music on one Instrument or Voice
  • Live Performance
  • Introduction to UK Music Industry
  • Creative Project

You will study the following units from our full-time Sound Production level 6 course:

  • Midi Sequencing
  • Digital Media: Audio Editing
  • Sound Reinforcement
  • Music Remixing
  • Introduction to UK Music Industry
  • Creative Project
