What is special about this course?
ACE (Access to Construction and Engineering) will give you a range of opportunities to develop your skills in the Construction and Engineering industries. It will also help build your confidence through working in teams with your fellow students.
This course has helped many students to gain employment and apprenticeships both locally and nationally.
- Prospective learners must demonstrate an interest in a career in construction or engineering.
- Consideration will also be given to learners who have completed the Personal Empowerment Programme.

You will learn practical skills in a wide range of construction and engineering disciplines including:
Woodwork - Using hand and power tools to create traditional woodworking joints. Find out how to repair damaged items in your own home.
Plumbing - Learn how to fit out a bathroom suite and take the skill away with you to save money.
Painting & Decorating - Prepare and hang wall paper to surfaces you have prepared. Upgrade your home decor with your own hands.
Electrical Installation - Learn how to fit and test lighting circuits.
Welding & Fabrication - Build your very own mini steam engine and learn how to Weld using different techniques.
Employability - We will help you become more attractive to employers by encouraging you achieve the best possible goal.
Core Skills - You will be given the chance to enhance your core skills through enterprise.
