Seal Management PDA

What is special about this course?

The Seal Management PDA at UHI North Highland is a combination of a self-study online course and a practical shooting test.

The primary aim of this qualification is to provide knowledge and skills in specified areas which will prepare candidates to apply for a licence to undertake seal management under the provisions of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants should  inform the college if they have a Deer Stalking Certificate level 1 qualification at the application stage. The reason for this is that accreditation of prior learning can be issued which would exempt applicants from having to do the practical shooting test, thus, a smaller course fee would apply.

The PDA is comprised of two Units: Seal Management: Theory and Seal Management: Practice. The PDA will be awarded on successful completion of the two component units providing a total of 16 SCQF credit points at SCQF level 6.

How will I study my course?

The theory part of the qualification will usually be completed online.

Candidates will have one year to complete the course from the time of enrolment.
