Child Health and Social Care NC

What is special about this course?

The NC in Child, Health and Social Care at SCQF level 5 is designed to give candidates the underpinning knowledge required to work in a variety of care settings. Candidates will be able to apply that knowledge to care scenarios through case studies. The NC provides the basic knowledge and skills that can then be built on for working within the Care sector 

This course is available to study from our campuses in Thurso and Alness.

Entry requirements

School leavers

  • At least 16 years old with a minimum of five National 4 qualifications, including one literary subject such as English, History or Geography
  • Satisfactory interview

Mature students

  • Relevant post-school education and training
  • Satisfactory interview
  • National 5 Care
  • National 5 Early Education and Childcare
  • National 5 Mental Health and Wellbeing 
  • Child protection
  • You will also develop core skills in IT, numeracy and communications
  • As well as the NC Group Award, you will have the opportunity to achieve 3 smaller group awards in Care, Early Learning and Mental Health and Wellbeing

Full-Time Study

Full-time students will automatically receive the fee waiver if they are eligible from the information they have provided on their course application form.

If you have been living in the UK for at least three years, are an ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full-time course. Please check our fee waiver policy for more information.
