Meet the Business Development Unit team.
Business Development Unit Team Leader
Karen was born and raised in Derbyshire and moved to Caithness 14 years ago after visiting friends and falling in love with the area. She attended Derby High School for Girls and South East Derbyshire College, after which her first job was with a local engineering company working for Rolls Royce. After 7 years of studying in her spare time she attained her accounting qualifications.
As well as various Accountancy roles, Karen has also been a General Manager for a large print brokers and therefore responsible for developing new business and products. Karen feels that she has been extremely lucky to have had the variety of experience across industry sectors as well as business departments and is now well placed to take on the role as Team Leader for the new business development unit.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys long walks with her dog and attending live music events and festivals.
Project Support Assistant
After leaving Wick High School in 2014, Lynn worked with Highland Council providing clerical support for Business Support for 2 years.
In 2016 the opportunity arose to work with North Highland College UHI. Lynn’s current role is Project Support Assistant, she provides project and contract support, including financial reporting for college projects and associated business opportunities.
Lynn oversees Modern Apprenticeship and Foundation Apprenticeship Contracts, Erasmus+ Programme and European Social Funding. Her role is to co-ordinate and monitor the performance of these projects.
Business Development Officer (part-time)
Fiona has a wealth of customer service and sales experience. Coming from a background in finance Fiona worked for Bank of Scotland as a Customer Service Adviser before progressing to Business Relationship Manager. Prior to that she worked for Scottish Provincial Press.
Fiona has worked at North Highland College for 5 Years and during her time with us was seconded to work with Developing the Young Workforce North Highland.
In her spare time she volunteers with Cats Protection.
Administration Support Assistant
Carol has a dual role within the college. Her main role is providing administration support to the Business, Hospitality and Rural Studies section within the college as well as part of the reception team on a daily basis.
Carol also has an administration support role within the Business Development Unit.
